First Look at Highlander Remake Starring Henry Cavill

That giant S on his chest and silver lace-front wig are in the rearview mirror for Henry Cavill as he dons a new look for his upcoming role in the new Highlander remake. Cavill shared two photos of his new leather trench coat and fur collar on Instagram, an outfit that would make xXx actor Vin Diesel proud.

“Happy First Look for Highlander!” Cavill wrote. “This has been quite the journey for me, which I’ll tell you all about when the time is right, but it’s a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy.”

The Highlander reboot will be directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski, and Cavill has been attached to the project since 2021. One of the reasons it’s taken so long for production to start is because Cavill injured himself late last year during prep for the film. Production has only just begun, and although not much is known about the premise, the cinematography and costuming tease that its look will be very reminiscent of John Wick. Although Cavill is no longer known as Geralt of Rivia, he still has a giant sword in one of his new pictures. He appears in two different locations across the photos, suggesting substantial travel between locations in the film.

The upcoming Highlander reboot features a supporting cast that includes Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela, and Max Zhang. The screenplay was penned by Michael Finch, building on previous versions developed by Ryan J. Condal and Kerry Williamson.

The original Highlander film debuted in 1986, with Christopher Lambert starring as Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish warrior born in the 1500s. Sean Connery appeared as fellow immortal Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, who served as Connor’s mentor, while Clancy Brown portrayed the ruthless Kurgan, tracking MacLeod through 1980s New York. Lambert and Connery reprised their roles in the 1991 sequel, and the property later expanded into additional films, television adaptations, and spinoff novels.
