After years of speculation since Disney’s 2019 Fox acquisition, Marvel Studios unveiled its X-Men reboot cast at D23 on August 14, 2026. Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*) introduced the lineup on stage.
The cast:
- Sadie Sink as Jean Grey — already glimpsed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
- Kit Connor (Heartstopper) as Cyclops
- Christopher Abbott as Professor X — a notably younger take on the character than fans have seen before
- Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
- Inde Navarrette (Obsession) as Rogue — a surprise pick, since she was rumored for Mystique
- Maya Boyd, a Broadway actress, as Storm
- Adam Driver as the villain Mister Sinister, revealed via a surprise video under his civilian alias, Nathaniel Milbury
Still uncast (at least publicly): Wolverine, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast — Charles Melton is rumored for the latter but wasn’t part of the announcement. Feige confirmed more casting news is still to come.
Release date: May 5, 2028, arriving after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Writers Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear) are reportedly building the film around the characters’ relationships rather than treating the team as just another ensemble.
