Street Fighter 6’s next big update is just around the corner, dropping on February 5. This update brings some exciting new features, including three new ranks: High Master, Grand Master, and Ultimate Master. Players who’ve reached Master rank will see changes in matchmaking, and the top 500 players in the Ultimate Master tier will receive the Legend rank.
But that’s not all – Mai Shiranui is joining the fight, and players can expect quality-of-life improvements like Match Restore and replays. Since its release in June 2023, Capcom has been supporting Street Fighter 6 with regular updates, adding new characters, gameplay adjustments, and character balancing.
Some notable additions include Akuma’s return in May 2024, bringing a more intimidating version of the iconic villain, and Terry Bogard’s debut in September 2023, joining the game as the second DLC character of Year 2.

Capcom has revealed more details about Street Fighter 6’s upcoming update, scheduled to arrive on February 5. This update introduces three new ranks: High Master, Grand Master, and Ultimate Master. Players currently at the Master rank will see this change when their Master Rate (MR) reaches a specific threshold, although the exact numbers haven’t been disclosed.
Two new systems will be added to improve the gaming experience for players at the Master rank. The first system will determine the starting MR for a new Phase based on the previous Phase’s MR, aiming to enhance matchmaking. The second system will reward players with points for participating in matches, which can be redeemed for rewards like alternative character colors.
Additionally, the update will include other exciting features, such as the introduction of Mai Shiranui, a new character, and quality-of-life improvements like Match Restore and replays.
While the adjustments to ranked matches are a highlight of the update, it will also have quality-of-life improvements, such as introducing the Match Restore option. With this, players can resume custom matches interrupted by disconnection, a feature that promises to be helpful, especially for online tournament matches. Players will have the option to see replays of previous matches, whether ranked or casual. Street Fighter 6‘s World Tour mode will also receive improvements, making it easier to track down and train with the Masters.
In addition to the revelation of these new features, the next big update will be Mai Shiranui’s debut in Street Fighter 6. With moves that mix nostalgia and some new maneuvers, Mai is the third DLC character from Year 2. In addition to Terry Bogard, Year 2 released M. Bison in June last year, and will bring Elena from Street Fighter 3 in the Spring of this year on a date yet to be confirmed.
