Attending New York Comic Con is always a thrill, and 2018’s event was no exception. With a record-breaking 250,000 fans flocking to the Javits Convention Center, the show continued its upward trajectory. The exhibit hall floor was abuzz with the vibrant energy of Japanese and Asian pop culture, showcasing the diverse interests of the attendees. Scholastic made a splash with the announcement of Raina Telgemeier’s new graphic memoir, “Guts”, and a companion journal, “Share Your Smile”. Meanwhile, the Harvey Awards honored “Monstress” by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda as Book of the Year, cementing its place in the comic book canon. The 2018 NYCC was a true celebration of fandom in all its forms.
