On June 28, Charlie Klarsfeld was joined on stage at the Bowery Electric by Haley Vassar, Richie Quake, Lola Kirke, Oliver Ignatius &Ludwig Persik for a performance premiering his new single “Take On Me”. Songs performed ranged from Klarsfeld’s original productions to remix covers of “Wonderwall” by “Oasis” & “Make Me” by Prinze George. The night ended with a knockout performance of “Take On Me” by Haley Vassar who was outfitted by LOROD.
Klarsfeld’s take on “Take On Me” is a true pastiche, leaning heavily on intoxicating beats, the sultry vocals of Nashville native Haley Vassar, and the infectious flow of Ugandan Afrobeat star Pallaso. At its core, it’s an epic electronic love ballad you can dance to with a Dance-Hall flavor.
In Klarsfeld’s eight-year hiatus as a recording artist, he shifted his focus to producing (Branchez, The Vaccines) and DJing. A prodigy of sorts, Klarsfeld, and his psychedelic rock group Hysterics were on TRL at the age of fifteen.
Later he formed the retro-R&B group The Americans, working with the likes of Sean Lennon, Daniel Merriweather, and The Dap Kings. Stepping back from the typical frontman role, Klarsfeld began making beats and DJing in NYC for the A-list fashion and art crowds.
