Doris Himmelbauer is an Austrian photographer currently based in London. After five years of professional practice, she started her MA in Fine Art Photography at Kingston University, where she graduated in 2015. Since then she settled down in East London and is working as a full-time freelance photographer – mainly in the commercial and editorial sector.

Himmelbauer has a minimalistic approach to most of her work. To her, the world is loud, hectic and overloaded with information, so her goal is to keep things simple and find beauty in purity. For this particular editorial, the main idea was to create a minimalistic body of work focusing on the strength & beauty of nature & humanity. Together with Hair & Makeup Artist Christoph Haider, she created “Spring Daze” a nature-inspired beauty editorial consisting of 6 different looks. Therefore she got stylist Pia Velarde and Model Emma Norodom on board. The editorial was shoot in “The Ark Studio” in Dalston.

About the photographers work: Although working freelance in the commercial sector, Himmelbauer never lost track of her private projects. Her fine art projects mostly have a critical approach to photography in the digital era. They are the complete opposite of her editorials, they are loud, they are critical and straight into your face. Dealing with digital photography and appropriation art her latest work is about copyright, authorship, and photography in the age of social media platforms.

Himmelbauer had her first exhibition in the Asylum Chapel in Peckham 2015, followed by several exhibitions in and around London.
