Marrying her smoky soulful voice with ambient electronic music, Layla shows the influence of Jorja Smith and Lorde on her music. Layla’s sound is evocative and achingly poignant. Layla is currently preparing the release of her debut album, ‘Saved’, release Nov 30th.
Layla Kardan was born in Belgium but is now an Australian national living and working in the United Arab Emirates. ‘Saved’ is an intimate and raw album tackling social conventions as a middle eastern woman. The songs express the vulnerability of being a woman and celebrate the power found within through introspection and breaking free from the expectations of her community.
