Exceptional elegance has always been Solis Magazine’s forte, and this editorial doesn’t disappoint. Absolutely honored to have the opportunity of being featured in Solis again. Motion D Photography has created a stunning portrayal of summer fashion through his stupendous lens work. When you get to work with a great team of gifted individuals, there is so much to contribute, receive and share. Each moment is a learning experience. Every aspect has been carefully worked upon here, making sure the essence of this editorial is characterized by utmost coherence. The various pieces of clothing that have been showcased in this series, are all luxurious ensembles custom designed by Toronto based designer Zoba Martin. Each of her design is unique, ornate and detailed.

It was a pleasure to adorn “April” – the graceful African deep V maxi gown, one of our features in this editorial. “April” is made in Canada with 100% cotton, Ankara fabric from Nigeria, West Africa. The stunning blend of hues such as orange and blue in this pops beautifully on anyone. “Honey” is our second and final feature – a formal evening or cocktail dress. This stunner from Zoba Martin is a timeless piece. Honey is indeed a dream in reality and is made with glitter gold lace. The gathered waistline flatters the figure and its halter neck draws the eye to firm, beautiful arms.

From the point of view of artistic direction, our prime objective has been to keep the focus on the spectacular designs and not too much color on the face taking that attention away. The youthful spread of freshly blossoming flowers have added so much life and meaning to this theme and we are glad about the way this set has turned out. The lush green color of surrounding nature celebrates the subtle transition from Spring to Summer. The flowers have so wonderfully complimented the dresses that it all looks tailor made. Our talented makeup artist Glitterbox Makeover chose to go for a cleaner look for the face in order to balance out with the bold and vibrant colors of the outfits. She picked an electric blue tone for the heavily smoked out eyes giving that editorial vibe while sticking to nude lips. A dewy skin with a soft blush always completes a fresh summer look. For the hair too, it was all kept very natural and simple.

Pulling the hair back allows the facial structure to be strongly highlighted especially for those with a signature high cheekbone. The beauty looks, the no accessories feel, the styling, the flamboyant colors—each element is more captivating than the next. This should definitely be a contender for the coolest summer high fashion editorial of all time. Our captain of the ship and lensman – amazing Motion D photography has an expert vision and his professionalism is one of a kind. He is used to working with a superb team of videographers who know exactly how to capture every little facet of the event and produce some marvelous series of behind the scenes for everyone to cherish. The day of the shoot was an insanely hot and humid one, peak of Canadian summer. However, the energy level, sincerity and dedication from all have been by far one of the best that I have come across while working with a pro team. No wonder we could create some very impressive results that we are absolutely blessed to have the chance of showcasing in a prestigious high fashion magazine like Solis.
