CONNECTIONSy EXTRA pre-spring 2018 menswear collection. Boxer’s muscles, beards, gloves and protective caps, contrasting with the unisex jacket. We like this contrast.

The Spring 2018 Collection draws Inspiration from my time in the world’s most northern city, Tromso Norway. I wanted to pay homage to The simplicity and quiet of the Norwegian landscape. The glow of snow and ice vanishing into the deep shadows of pine forests, set against the night skies flaming Arora, are proof that light can be found in the most remote places.

I was reminded of this experience while watching a scene from the 2016 film “Moonlight”. A story of human experience generally overlooked in error. The film connects the metaphor of a shimmering moon reflected on the surface of deep waters, while all that is beneath remains shrouded in darkness, to the life of a man on a journey of self-discovery. This idea helped me to better understand that even in darkness there is life unknown.

This concept combines the emotions and the awareness felt when understanding is present. The intimacy of experience and the courage to explore the unknown are represented in color and texture. The clean lines and sharp cuts of the clothing bring to mind paths not yet traveled. Aurora is a combination of personal exploration and the desire to delve deeper into the world around us.

Brand Story: Connection means forming a connecting link between the preceding and the following in the English language. This word is also the meaning of Designer Shang Yang’s name. Everything in life exists in a direct or indirect relationship with each other, no matter water and air, plant and soil, or the relationships between humans, they are all carriers of cause and effect. The birth of a fashion product must pass through the inspiration collection, sketches, production, and packaging. Every link is connected, and every link can be called a Connection. The meaning of“Connectionsy” is not only an ordinary fashion product, it carries a lot of stories of the designer himself, such as the learning and sentiment from reading a book, joy from drinking a cup of coffee, memories from a journey, a break up… Therefore, you may find your own stories in the fashion production of Connectionsy.

Designer :
CONNECTIONSy creative director SHANG YANG, graduated from the Shanghai “Donghua University”, Fashion design degree program. Shang’s graduate collection was awarded the runner-up honor in the same year he won the “Student Innovation in World Of Wearable Arts Award”. Shang’s experience working with some notable fashion brands helped cultivate his design skill and develop his individual style. In 2015 Shang completed his master’s degree at “Domus Academy” in Milan Italy. During the school collaboration with certain Italian fashion labels, such as Avaro Figlio, Trussardi, Frankie Morello.. That year, Shang’s graduate collection was featured in “VOGUE Italia” July 2015 issue. In January 2016, Shang founded CONNECTIONSy MILANO. The independent fashion label is currently sold in both Italy and New York. His first season of women’s wear collection is awarded by “NOT JUST A LABEL” as the “BLACK SHEEP”.
