Microsoft is revealing the first details about its next-generation Xbox hardware today. Rumors suggested Microsoft would launch two new Xbox consoles in 2020.
Following the release of two new Halo 5: Guardians trailers last night that offered cryptic story details and confirmed an October 27 release date for the Xbox One game, Microsoft has now offered even more information about the game by way of a new statement from 343 Industries studio head Bonnie Ross.
The prize pool for the Halo Championship Series, the official eSports league dedicated exclusively to the popular sci-fi shooter franchise, has doubled the prize pool for its Season 1 finals from $50,000 to $100,000, developer 343 Industries has announced.
Few details were revealed about the game other than its box art, title, release date and the fact that it will debut with the live-action Halo TV show as well. But it’s one of those aspects I want to focus on (even though I could launch into a tangent about how “Guardians” is an odd subtitle given that word’s importance in Bungie’s Destiny).
