This editorial is inspired by the Ball and Chain song of Big Brother and the Holding Company sung by the great Janis Joplin. I discovered the song by watching the series Big Little Liars and its great soundtrack. This song, in particular, took me to a point of excitement and ecstasy that after listening to it for the umpteenth time I had the need to capture in a series of photos what is transmitted to me.

While I was googling for inspiration, I found some photos that came close to the idea that was running through my head and I made a mood board to present it to the Photographer of the session, RaquelCCentelles. He loved the proposal. The idea was based on the experience of having an appointment with a lover, from which only passion moves. The protagonist of the story is looking forward to the arrival of the lover, who seems to be late. The warmth of his heart and body make him take off his clothes and imagine what will happen in a few moments. The appointment is delayed more than usual and the degree of desperation is transmitted in their movements.

Raquel and I usually work a lot together in fashion editorials and we knew that this editorial went out of fashion context, but we still wanted to try new things and experiment with this project. We look for an old place with an aspect of abandonment to connote the word “dirt” in the context: sex is dirty, having a lover is dirty, passion in the extreme is dirty.

The brave model of the session, Christina Antipova left us speechless with her sensuality and how well she conveyed the idea on set.

The post-production is directed towards another scenario. We wanted to reduce the feeling of dirt with a gradation of old image and aspect of polaroid, something very seen in vogue right now, for example in the social networks of Kim Kardashian. The objective of showing hard details in photography, such as the Jeffrey Campbell platforms, was to show the rock side of the song Ball and Chain, the hard sound of the metallic guitar, and show it with elements such as a Matter of Black leather jacket and Almarte accessories that convey a touch of submission and sensuality.

Here is our editorial: hard, sensual, retro, rock, feminine and experimental.
