The multi-talented Canadian r&b/pop artist born in Toronto, Ontario by the name of Joshua Clarke has been named as one of Canada’s next biggest artists from popular blog “City in Three”. Since a child, Josh grew up in a very musical family which caused him to create an identity of his own. At an early age, Josh was raised by his Grandmother in New York City where he learned how to be independent and adapt to the struggles of what life can bring. He fell in love with the music his Grandmother would play on the radio such as Mary J. Blige, Usher, Jay Z, Mariah Carey, Prince and Stevie Wonder. In his early life, he was raised in the church where he began to fall in love with the drums and at just 9 years old the singer-songwriter had his first live performance and became a young aspiring musician.
Being the oldest of 3 siblings, Josh always had to help provide for his family due to the fact his mother was separated from his father and was working 3 jobs at once to maintain. The struggle that he had to face grew him up fast and taught him how to be a man at a young age. By the age of 15, Josh already has been to 13 different schools including in the United States as well as homeschooled, this made it hard for him to fit in. These challenges caused him to get caught up with the wrong crowd which even led to him getting kicked out of the house.
At 16 Josh lived with his grandparents in Windsor, Ontario where he was given his first piano. He later taught himself to sing and play the piano without any lessons as a way to deal with the trials life has thrown at him. Now labeled as one of “Canada’s Next Top Artists” and now working daily with the music industry’s most talented musicians and producers there is no doubt that his humble beginnings and success will go unrecognized. He released his first EP titled “24 Hours” August 2018, his newest single One Night was released early 2018 and is currently playing consistently on radio stations in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Tampa, and Las Vegas. Josh aims to reach a worldwide audience in the coming year.
Since the EP release, the solo artist opened for the U.S. superstar Lil Durk, social media icons The Clermont Twins and African International artists such as Runtown, Ycee. From singing national anthems for as much as 25,000 screaming fans at the Nation’s Capital biggest football game, performing live on national television and opening at Toronto’s International Film Festival 2 consecutive years to now being known as Canada’s next r&b/pop artist to rise. Josh continues to move closer to becoming a household name. The Singer-Songwriter has proven to individuals like himself you can make it no matter what your circumstances may be.
