Internet gambling is a wildly popular and fun activity that’s regularly enjoyed by millions. Gambling has been featured in lots of books, as well as movies, video games, and TV shows. There are quite a few movies based on this theme, with these often having a thoroughly interesting mix of characters, a gripping storyline and heart-stopping suspense, as bets are made and fortunes either won or lost on the silver screen.

While everyone has their own favorite gambling-themed movie, here are a trio that is more popular and more critically acclaimed than their peers:

Ocean Eleven Movie
Ocean Eleven Movie

Oceans 11 – Daily, enormous sums are wagered at brick-and-mortar casinos. As a result, casinos have often been targeted by criminal elements looking to get their hands on some of this moolah. Such attempts in a large majority of cases come to nought, with the perps being invariably apprehended at nearly the speed of light! However, that does not mean that a casino heist does not make for a cracking tale on the silver screen, as Oceans 11 makes clear. This blockbuster stars an array of the most bankable and talented individuals and has a plot that revolves around the robbing of not one but a trio of top-flight casinos. Impossible you might say, but not for Danny Ocean and his team of highly skilled operatives who are in a take-no-prisoners mode! Watch them pull off the most impossible heist ever, in the slickest way ever and with charming accents to match!

Casino Royale Movie - 2006
Casino Royale Movie - 2006

Casino Royale – Bond, James Bond makes an appearance in this 2006 movie that was inspired by a book of the same name by acclaimed novelist Ian Fleming. Incidentally, this is the second Casino Royale movie, with the first being released in 1967. The most famous fictional agent on the globe takes on a terrorist financier in a very high stakes game of Texas Hold’em. Apart from the slickest gambling scenes, viewers get treated to the typical frenzied skirt-chasing that Bond is renowned for, as well as high-speed car chases, action-packed fight scenes and shots of the most luxurious casinos. Overall, Casino Royale is one gambling-themed movie that brutally puts the pedal to the metal!

Casino Movie - 1995
Casino Movie - 1995

Casino – This movie is a classic that was released in 1995. Directed by Martin Scorsese, it is a crime drama that stars the ever-delightful Robert de Niro as a mob-affiliated sports betting guru who is tasked with taking care of some mob business in Vegas. As the mafia gets increasingly shut out of Vegas, de Niro is soon placed in the impossible position of doing what is required of him and at the same time making sure that his actions or inactions on the part of the mob do not blow back on his beloved family. This happens to be a very entertaining and punmoldovie in the mould of other movies like Goodfellas and has won a slew of awards. It was even nominated for an Oscar but had to settle for a Golden Globe instead.
